BEULAH L. "BILLIE" STAVROS Obituary
Beulah L. "Billie" Stavros Beulah L. "Billie" Stavros (nee Watkins), 86, was born in West Plains, MO, to Alfred and Purl (nee Stuart) Watkins. She went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, after a long and courageous fight with Parkinson's disease and was surrounded by her family. During World War II, Billie worked as one of Rosie the Riveters in St. Louis, MO, assisting in the production of B17 bombers. It was during a plant tour that Billie met her husband, Ted, who was a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, where he was a heavy bomber flight instructor. After the war, Billie and Ted married in 1946, and moved back to the family farm in Wheeling, where they worked for many years. Billie's career also included working as a sales associate for Carson, Pirie, Scott & Co. for 10 years. Additionally, Billie was a licensed hairdresser and operated her own business from her home for 20 years. Billie loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherwoman. She traveled annually for 25 years to Eagle Lake, Ontario, Canada to fish for the "Big Walleye." Billie also enjoyed flying with her husband and she soloed at the age of 45. She and Ted traveled around the world twice. She was the beloved wife of the late Ted Stavros; loving mother of Tony (Christine) Stavros, Alfred (Roseanne) Stavros and Greg (Sherry) Stavros; proud grandmother of Corey (Janelle) Pritchett, Tracey (Bill) McCoy, Justin (Maria) Stavros Esq., Adam Stavros Esq., Nick (Pam) Stavros Esq. and Vince (Kaitlyn) Stavros Esq; dear sister of Seb, Robert and Chester; great-grandmother of Quinn McCoy; and half sister to Ted, Harley, Bonnie and Betty Sue, Dwayne and Don. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the , would be appreciated. Arrangements were made by John G. Adinamis Funeral Director, Ltd., 847-359-8020.
