Obituary Condolences

Clarence O. Heidke of Mount Prospect Clarence O. Heidke, 93, died on Nov. 19, 2012, after several years of declining health. He was born in Chicago on Jan. 6, 1919, to Otto and Elsie (nee Ebeling) Heidke. Clarence was the retired assistant treasurer of Carson Pirie Scott, and previously served as controller for now-closed retailers Mandel Brothers and Finchley Men's Clothing. He was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II in England, Belgium and France, and was in charge of supplying rations to the First Army on Normandy beachhead. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (nee Redel); her daughter, Linda (Steven) Schwartz; her son, Mark (Deborah) Hogan; two grandchildren, Kelly and David; one great-grandson, Joshua; his daughter, Janice Heidke of Houston, TX; his son, James Heidke of Tucson, AZ; and his sister, Eleanor (the late Donald) Thrane, her five sons and their families of southern California. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Leonard. Clarence was an enthusiastic Cubs fan and enjoyed watching his grandson, David, play football and rugby. Services and interment private according to his wishes.
