The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.
While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more
To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.
The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill
I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

Soldier, We never met but we feel we owe you much. First - for what you and your family gave for our freedom (we can never repay). Second - Your personal sacrifice is directly responsible for brining us to the Oklahoma Patriot guard Riders (PGR). This too, we can never repay but we are trying to pay it forward by being active and proud members of the PGR. The PGR was at your services and this was the first exposure we had to the PGR. We did not attend as we did not know you or the PGR at that time. We waited on the side of the highway until the PGR escorted you by. The PGR did great and I am sure you were proud. After this we did not get to see where you (at least your body) went that day,until yesterday when we visited. We just felt we needed that closure since we were unable to escort you there. You have also helped us introduce out two oldest Grandkids (Alyssa & Zachary) to the PGR. They are active with us and have performed with honor at several missions. Thanks for this great opportunity to expand our lives and theirs (hopefully others as well). Once again all we can do is say Thank-You.

Happy 45th Birthday!!! I could not write on the one year mark because I was so numb. We went to the cemetery and spent the day with you and released butterflies and 14 balloon for Bryan's birthday. Here is one of the poems I read:
When I'm Gone
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years I gave you love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love each have shown but now it is time I travel alone.
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust
It is only for a while that we must part so bless those memories within your heart
I will not be far away, for life goes on, if you need me, call and i will come.
though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you, soft and clear.
Then when you must come this way alone, i will greet you with a smile and "welcome home"
We love you and miss you dearly.

Hello from Tampa.
The Tampa Area Marine Parents Association sponsored a run for the fallen. I am not much for words but I wanted to let you know how privileged and honored I felt to run with your husband's name on my bib. I am writing to say that I can not begin to imagine the loss to you and your family. I hope it brings some comfort that there are a large group of people that try to honor such great men as your husband. Watching the news, makes it hard to believe, but the country WILL NEVER FORGET that your husband gave the ultimate sacrifice for you, his children, and his country. He was a true man for others. Thank You

Dan,
We had several things in common, like truck driving, and motorcycle racing. I will miss the times we got together and talked about those things. It has been an honor to have served with you and to have known you. In the short time we knew each other a friendship grew. I will miss your dry seance of humor and how you had a way of making me laugh even in the hard times. You will not be forgotten my brother.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

To the family and parents of Daniel I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you

Dan, I revel in the camaraderie and sincerity of your friendship. Thanks for the simple human courtesies you extended to me while I was attached to your unit Oct02-Aug03. October 1, 2008, 11:00 am. Dan is finally home. Rachel, Bryan, Jordan and Christina allowed me the great honor and privilege of accompanying them to welcome home my friend. As I stood there with them and watched the aircraft approach, you could see and feel the relief on each face, knowing he was finally home. Heads held high and eyes filled with tears we stood and watched and the Color Guard escorted him from the aircraft to the waiting vehicle. The overwhelming sense of pride, honor and respect filled the air, along with a sadness that tore into your heart without resolve. We were in the presence of greatness. A Hero has returned home. I miss you brother.

Dear Eshbaugh family,
I am so sad to hear about your loss. I did not know Sgt Eshbaugh, nor do I know you all, but I do know the pain you are going through. My best friend, Scott Duffman, was killed in the same way your loved one was. Not too long ago...Feb of last year. The day I heard of this crash, it kind of sent me into a tail spin of memories and flashbacks of the day we found out about Scott. He had only been gone for four days. I wish I could tell you it will get easier, but I will not attempt to do that. There will be so many times you will ask yourself WHY HIM...although you would not wish it on any other family...you will pray to wake up from this nightmare and hope it is not your son/father/husband. It is still very hard. There is not a day that goes by that I don't wish I could tell Scott how much I love him and cherished him. It breaks my heart knowing you have only just begun your journey. Please know that there are people who will ALWAYS pray for your fallen. There will NEVER come a day we don't thank our fallen. Please know we thank you from the very bottom of our heart for your son...for whatever that is worth to you. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dan and Family,
I really don't know where to start, I've been thinking about how to respond to all, since the only direct contact we had was a phone introduction when Kimberlee and I first started dating, so I listen to the stories between her and all the people who have been in contact with her in the past week, re-visit the guestbook to read what your friends and family have to say and try to put together a history for myself to work with. I feel cheated by not getting to spend time with you, I know that I really missed something just by all the character I have encountered on my trips with Kimberlee to PA, I just love your family,they're a blast. I guess my favorite story I hear is from Kimberlee,Ian and Arden telling me about the time that you were the only one who would eat the Harry Potter jelly beans, flavors like Dirt,Sardine,Earwax and then have a Blueberry to cleanse the palate before finishing off with Soap and Rotten egg. I have the ultimate respect for someone who devotes their life to defending our country, the closest I ever came to the military was a scare in high school when they re-introduced selective sevice. My Mom was a teletype operator in the WAC and served during WWII, she never talked about it though, I'll never forget her telling me........ " If you don't have to go, Don't go!" I guess it's kind of ironic that I didn't, it seems like everything else she told me not to do, I did.
Thank you for your devotion, and my condolenses to your family. Rest in peace.

Aunt Bernadine, Kim, Chris, Rachel, Ashley, Jessica, Bryan, and Jordan,
You are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Although distances kept us apart, when we were together for papa's funeral it was like there was no time gap. You've been reunited with your dad (uncle Dan) and papa, no doubt hunting for the big buck or fishing in the stocked streams. You will be sadly missed by the entire Eshbaugh family. I am so proud to have a cousin protecting our country and protecting our freedom. It will be a much safer place for our children.
Dear God,
Watch over this family as well as all the other military personel protecting our freedom and country. Give them the strength to carry on Your work as You have laid out for all of us. We no not when our time is to be called, but Danny did what he was meant to do. Amen
Your cousin,
Karen (Eshbaugh) Manor

Danny you were always such a comedian, always bringing a smile to those around you. I'll cherish my memories of you from when we were kids and into adulthood. As your Dad being my Godfather he was so special to me and when we lost him I guess I transferred some of that special feeling to you. I'm forever grateful to you for giving yourself to your country. I will forever miss you and know you are with Grandpa and your Dad my uncle.
I Love You and will miss you,

To Bernadine, Rachel and all the immediate family... may the God of all comfort be with you and may you feel his loving arms tightly about you.
I was in my office at work when Marilyn called and told me what had happened. My heart stopped and my mind froze, my tears flowed. Over that phone I listen to family members almost daily telling me about the loss of a family member. I hear their sobs and cries of pain ...but today it was my turn to grieve the loss of a special family member...AND TO ACHE FOR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS HEAVY IN THIS JOURNEY OF GRIEF. My prayers have been and will continue to be with you. My tears are mixed with yours.

Dan,
It has taken me several days to finally sign this. It seems to get harder to accept your absence as each day passes and the reality forces its way into our lives. Thank you for being you.... My friend, my neighbor, my brother at arms.
