Obituary Condolences

Doris S. Ackman formerly of Naperville Funeral services for Doris S. Ackman, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville. Born May 27, 1915, in Pontiac, Ill., she died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at the Porter Hospital in Denver, Colo. Interment will be in Naperville Cemetery, Naperville. Mrs. Ackman moved from Pontiac to Naperville in 1941. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Ill. and her master's from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. She taught English at the Pontiac High School for eight years and at the El Paso High School in El Paso, Ill., for two years. She was a member of the Naperville Woman's Club since 1951, the Naperville Country Club and Grace United Methodist Church since 1941. Doris enjoyed collecting antiques, especially china and silver plaques. Mrs. Ackman along with her husband owned and operated the Ackman Funeral Home in Naperville for many years. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Westerberg of Castle Rock, Colo., and Janet Schofield of Portsmouth, N.H.; and grandson, Ian Hopper of Castle Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Louise (nee Cornell) Shepherd; husband, Stewart; brothers, Cecil, Cyril and Donald Shepherd; and sister, Claudine Haas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville, IL 60540.
