Edwin E. "Ed" Behrens Edwin E. "Ed" Behrens, 92, of Kaukauna, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at his home. He was born on Jan. 17, 1920, in Elk Grove Township, Cook County, Ill., the son of the late William and Christina (nee Busse) Behrens. Edwin was received into the Kingdom of our Lord through Holy Baptism at St. John Lutheran Church, Elk Grove Village on Jan. 25, 1920, and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Elk Grove Village on March 25, 1934. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1938. On Jan. 17, 1942, Edwin married Bernice H. Behrens (nee Baker) in Oak Park, Ill. They lived briefly in the Chicago area until Edwin was inducted into the Army on Nov. 23, 1942. Edwin was honorably discharged from the Army on Feb. 13, 1946. The couple resided in Palatine, Ill. for 29 years, and in Hendersonville, N.C. from 1985 until their return to Kaukauna in 2002. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaukauna. Edwin retired from the Teletype Corporation in Skokie, Ill. Special interests included Habitat for Humanity, church activities and gardening. Edwin is survived by two sisters, Betty and Lydia; two sons, Dennis in Lexington, Ky. and Chris in Kaukauna; three grandchildren, Christina, James and Michelle; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Behrens; and brothers, Richard, Albert, Louis, Wilber and Walter. The memorial service for Edwin will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 124 W. 10th St., Kaukauna, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Levi Willms will be officiating. Inurnment will take place in Trinity Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Kaukauna. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the are appreciated. Arrangements were made by Fargo Funeral Home, Kaukauna, 920-766-6200.
