Evangeline "Vangie" Sharp of West Dundee Evangeline "Vangie" Sharp, 100, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Carpentersville, IL, the daughter of Benjamin and Carolyn Wilkie Bramer. She had been a resident of the Carpentersville and Dundee area all of her life. She and her husband, Clyde Sharp operated Sharp Funeral Home, West Dundee for many years before retiring. She was a member of First Congregational Church, West Dundee, where she had been Sunday school superintendent and active with the Women's Fellowship serving coffee on Sundays, sewing cancer pads, playing the organ in Sunday school for the "little ones," and singing her favorite hymns during Sunday services. She was active with the Dundee Township Historical Society, directing bus trips for elementary students and volunteering and answering questions by phone. She was a former member of The Order of The Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are her three loving sons, Don (Dorothy) Sharp of Rock Island, IL, Jerry (Mary) Sharp of Memphis, TN and Robert (Gail) Sharp of Algonquin; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde in 1981; a grandson, Justin; and her brother, Alvin Bramer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (corner of Third and Oregon streets), West Dundee. Burial will be in Dundee Township West Cemetery, West Dundee. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services in the funeral home.
