Gary Charles Pelz of Elk Grove Village Gary Charles Pelz, 71, passed away with his family by his side Oct. 20, 2012. He was born June 23, 1941, in Libertyville, IL, to Fred and Helene Pelz. Gary graduated in 1966 from the Art Institute of Chicago with a degree in industrial design. After graduating, he spent two years in India with the Peace Corps. In 1970, he married Ann LePreux and they had two children, Loring and Kara. Gary and Ann divorced in 1978, but remained very close friends. Gary retired in 2001 from a successful career with Exhibitgroup, after which he became an avid motorcyclist who spent his summers touring in the US and abroad. When he wasn't riding, he could be found working in his garden or on his house. He also donated his time to help Second Chance Pet Adoption and the Elk Grove Village Historical Society. Gary is survived by Loring Pelz, son; Kara Brodeur, daughter and their spouses, Sophie Pelz and Alan Brodeur; five grandchildren, Arlen, Zoe, Ethan, Parker and Vaughn; and his brother, Kent Pelz and Kent's wife, Marilyn. The memorial celebration will be held Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. at Fox Run Golf Link, 333 Plum Grove Road, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007.
