Obituary Condolences

George Edward Hausske a longtime resident of Wheaton George Edward Hausske, age 96, died on Tuesday, July 9 at Bickford Assisted Living Facility of Crystal Lake, IL. He was born on May 14, 1917 in Chicago, IL. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy and was a survivor of the USS Bunker Hill kamikaze attack that took the lives of many sailors. He also survived the kamikaze attack on the USS Enterprise. He ended the war on the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay watching the signing of the peace treaty that ended the war. After the war he had a long career as an electrical engineer. He was an active member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn, IL. For many years, he was a member of the Hudson, Essex, Terraplane Auto Club and restored Hudson automobiles as a hobby. He was also an avid collector and restorer of antique radios and toy trains. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy; two children: George Hausske Jr. of Battle Lake, MN and Laurel (Bruce) Armstrong of Crystal Lake, IL; two grandchildren, Erin (Dan) Adkins and Karin Ladd; three great-grandchildren, Cole, and Caitlin Adkins, and Andrew Ladd; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Shirley; and his brother, Delbert. Private services and interment will be held at Eden Memorial Park in Schiller Park, IL.
