Obituary Condolences

Gerald R. Andersen formerly of Bartlett for 35 years The celebration of the life of Gerald R. Andersen, of Elgin, will be held Thursday, 4 to 9 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road), Bartlett, where the funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Born Feb. 14, 1924, in Oak Park, Ill., Jerry died peacefully July 18, 2011. Mr. Andersen was a World War II Army veteran, who was captured in Italy during the war and spent 15 months in Germany as a POW. He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Marylou (nee Cook); loving father of Geri (Don) Hosler of Cape Coral, Fla., and Scott of Bartlett; cherished grandfather of Phillip (Marta), Patrick (Jessica) and Daniel (Loren) Hosler; and proud great-grandfather of Caili, Aidan, Amelie, James, Michael and Ethan. He is also survived by many loving friends, especially Will, Erika and Tim. Thanks to Vitas Hospice and Dr. Anderson for their compassion and support, especially Bill W. for 29 years.
