GERALD R. "JERRY" BENSEMA Obituary
Gerald R. "Jerry" Bensema lifelong resident of Naperville Gerald R. "Jerry" Bensema, age 65, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. He was born April 14, 1948 in Aurora. Beloved son of Myrtle (nee Kuiper) and the late Marvin G. Bensema, loving brother of Janice A. (Jerry) Biernat of Naperville and Marlene Gauger of Naperville, dear uncle of Kim Biernat of Rockdale, IL, Andy (Leigh Ann) Biernat of Little Rock, AR, Christina (Nick) Melville of Naperville, Lauren Gauger of St. Charles, IL and Suzanne Gauger of Naperville, fond great-uncle of Will and Ben Biernat; Ava Melville, loving nephew of Norma (the late Jim) Mitchell of Gilman, IL, cousin and friend to many Jerry grew up in Naperville, attended Ellsworth Grade School, Washington Junior High School and was a 1966 graduate of Naperville Community High School. He received his associate's degree in Art from College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. Jerry worked for Kroehler Manufacturing Co., Naperville and with his father, Marvin, at Bensema Lawn & Shrubbery which specialized in lawn care for business and residences. He was later employed for 17 years with Ryan's Lawn Service, Naperville and went on to own and operate his own company, Bensema Lawn Care Service. Jerry was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Naperville. He was proud of his collection of over 250 baseball hats and enjoyed sports, especially softball and bicycle racing. Jerry was an enthusiastic fan of the Chicago Black Hawks, Bears and White Sox. Visitation Monday, May 20, 4 to 8 p.m., at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Additional Visitation Tuesday, May 21, 9:30-10:30 A.M. at Community United Methodist Church, 20 N. Center St., Naperville, IL 60540. Funeral Services will follow Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., in the church. Interment: Naperville Cemetery, Naperville.
