GLEN F. "SPARKY" RICHARDSON Obituary
Glen F. "Sparky" Richardson of Elgin Glen F. "Sparky" Richardson, 64, passed away Sunday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2012, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, from complications from diabetes. He was born May 6, 1948, in Elgin, the son of Donald and Elmina (nee Olson) Richardson. Glen was a longtime heavy equipment operator at the Fox River Stone Co. in South Elgin for 36 years. He was a member of the Operators Union Local 150, the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club, and the Elgin Moose. He was fun-loving and an avid toy collector. Surviving are his mother, Elmina of Elgin; sisters, Ginger (Keith) Willing of Leaf River and Gail (Edward) Bove of Homewood: several nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and countless good friends. He will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his dad, Donald on Aug. 10, 1999. A memorial service to celebrate Glen's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Country Evangelical Covenant Church, 43W510 McDonald Road (corner of Route 47 and McDonald Road) in Campton Hills, with Pastor Paul Couleur officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church on Saturday, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Glen's name may be directed to the church or to Provena Hospice. The Fredrick Funeral Home in Hampshire is assisting the family. For information, call 847-683-2711.
