IRENE M. KALLIMANES JURASZEK Obituary
Irene M. Kallimanes Juraszek of Hanover Park Irene M. Kallimanes Juraszek (nee Corrigan), 75, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, in her home after a long battle with emphysema. She was born April 2, 1937, in Waltham, MA, to Doris and Francis J. Corrigan. Irene was a resident of Hanover Park, IL since 1970, where she raised her seven children and worked as a Cook County deputy sheriff for several years. After her retirement, she worked part time for the U.S. Post Office, Kane Beverage, Corfu Restaurant and Omega Restaurant. Irene spent her spare time collecting antiques, reading books, and breeding and raising Yorkshire Terrier puppies. She was also well known for cooking her annual batch of Christmas fudge which she shared with all her friends and neighbors. Irene will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Roger) Salzman of Carpentersville, IL, Richard (Cathy) Kallimanes of Manhattan, IL, Henry (Marilyn) Kallimanes of Deer Park, IL, Steven Kallimanes of Las Vegas, NV, Dianna Schmidt of Owatonna, MN, Kathryn Ladd of Hoffman Estates, IL and Kimberly (Jon) Geske of Murrieta, CA. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Francis (Mike) J. Corrigan Jr. of Dahlonega, GA and Robert (Evelyn) Corrigan of Carson City, NV.; and her two beloved pet yorkies, Sweetie and Spike. "The family would also like to graciously thank Irene's neighbor's for assisting her in her times of need; and especially thank her dear friend and neighbor, Ray Thompson, for driving her to her doctors appointments, helping her with house repairs, caring for her dogs, shoveling her driveway and many other acts of kindness over the years - thanks for just being a wonderful friend to our Mom." She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John J. Juraszek (1999); her previous husband, Henry J. Kallimanes (1981); sister, Phyllis McDonough; and brother Richard Corrigan. A memorial service will be held for Irene at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421, with the Rev. John T. McGeean officiating.
