May God bless and comfort the Herres family at this time. Hope they can get through this. I pray that God will bring them the strength and courage to get through the grief. His family needs to remember the love and laughter he brought to them in his short time he was here. God Bless you all. Brenda (Herres) Cummings and family

John,
I did not know you very well. We cossed paths after you were my daughter's swim instructor. She liked you, so by default you were cool. Sorry you had to leave so soon. I will pray as I know you will too for your loved ones. You will be missed but, not to worry we will see you some day. Take care.

My heart goes out to the Herres family and to our dear friend Emily Regal. I have known John (Russia) since middle school. I just recently, really got to know him. He went to the Packer game with us for Kali's 18th birthday. We all watched a movie together over Christmas break. He was working very hard at turning his life around and making smart choices. I loved his accent, his smile, his humor. He was a great friend to my daughters. I will truly miss this gentle man.

Great kid...he was one of a lively pack of young boys who did everything together, from Boys Club football to forgetting which house they left their clothes or toothbrushes at, long before any of them could drive. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of your son and brother. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. John was a friend of my son, Matt, back in middle school and he was and will still remain one of my favorites. He always had a smile on his face and took the time to talk to me...a parent. And even throughout the years, when their friendship grew apart, he still acknowledged me whenever he saw me. He always went out of his way to show kindness and respect. I will miss his smiling face and his good heart, as I know so many others will. He was a sweet, sweet boy. And I pray that you find strength in knowing that he touched many hearts. - Mrs. Donna Rades and family

I will never forget when John first came to your family, the summer camp at Honey Rock with Stephen and Derek, many other times when they were young. He was charming, smart, and full of zest. We are praying for your family at this time.

John was a very sweet young man with a wonderful smile. He was moving forward with his life in a positive direction & was taken much too soon. He will stay in our hearts forever.

Our hearts are breaking for this tragic loss. John was always so good and kind to my daughter and he was one of her dearest friends. She misses him dearly and he will always hold a place in all of our hearts.
John was always very polite when he came over to visit and stopped to talk to us, shaking hands and loved finding out what left-overs I had in the refrigerator.
Prayers and love go out to the family, especially for John's parents and brothers. We pray that God gives you all the strength to endure this tragic loss and persevere.
