KENNETH ARENDS Obituary

Kenneth L. Arends of Naperville for 28 years The visitation for Kenneth L. Arends, 69, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, at Grace United Methodist Church, Naperville, 300 East Gartner Road, Naperville, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will follow in Naperville Cemetery. Born Jan. 6, 1942, in Kamrar, Iowa, he passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 4, 2011. Ken attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he received his business degree. He was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville as well as an usher. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Iowa. Ken will be remembered fondly as a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather and a friend to many people and will live in our hearts forever. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jolene (nee White) Arends; his children, Shari of Aurora and Douglas (Rachelle) Arends of Naperville; his grandchildren, Halle, Caden and Coleson Arends; his siblings, Virginia Arends, Audrey (Daryl) Eslick and Marlene Arends; as well as four nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jans and Vina (nee Greenfield) Arends; and his brother, Gary M. Arends. Sue & I are so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. It seems like just last week that Bob visited with Ken & Jolene at the YMCA. Ken was a very decent and good man who I knew for almost 30 years. I will miss his humor and his smile.

My deepest sympathy to your family. I worked for Ken back in the 90s before moving to Texas. He was such a great boss and so kind; I learned so much from him. He was always willing to go the extra mile for anyone. He will be greatly missed.
