Margaret "Marge" Keenan-Denniston Margaret "Marge" Keenan-Denniston, born Sept. 16, 1927, in Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 5, 2012. Marge lived most of her adult life in Waukegan. Along with her first husband, Don and their three sons, they owned and operated the Greenwood Bakery for many years. Don and Marge also adopted and fostered many children during their lives. Marge loved children and really enjoyed her role as "Grandma Marge" to many, many children. Don died in 1989 and Marge married Bill Denniston Sr. in 1994. Marge worked for many years as secretary, administrative assistant and as an adult evening school teacher for the Waukegan Public Schools, she was secretary for Mayor Paravonian and clerk for the City of Waukegan and later as clerk of Warren Township. She was also a member and volunteer of many organizations in Lake County. She was a member of the National Exchange Club, where she worked for the prevention of child abuse, served on the Adult Rehab Center Council of the Salvation Army, and was a member of the American Business Women's Association. She received numerous awards for her service including The Exchangite of the Year awards, The Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds, The Exchange Spirit Award and was also named Woman of the Year by the American Business Woman's Association. Marge had been actively involved in the Village Church of Gurnee for the past 17 years and was the founder and an active member of the Sonshiners a women's fellowship group. She loved helping people and working for the community. Marge will be missed by family and many close friends. Marge is survived by two sons, Edward (Laura) Keenan and Kenneth Keenan of California; and two grandsons, Justin Maki and Cody Keenan of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 45 years, Donald Keenan; a son, Donald Jr.; and her second husband of 16 years, William "Bill" Denniston Sr. A memorial service will be held on Aug. 22, at 4 p.m. at Village Church of Gurnee,1319 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marge's honor may be made to National Exchange Club Foundation, 5050 Central Ave., Toledo, OH; Village Church of Gurnee or The Salvation Army, 850 S. Green Bay Road, Waukegan, IL 60085.
