MARY LOUISE GIBLIN Obituary
Mary Louise Giblin Mary Louise Giblin (nee Thompson) died in her home Nov. 15, 2012. She was born in Chicago, Aug. 9, 1921, and was married to James "Gib" T. Giblin of LaValle, WI for 64 years. She was the beloved mother of Jeani Cunningham (Jack) and Robert Giblin (Laura); grandmother of four, JoAnna Cunningham (Sean Butler) and Julie Petros (Steven), and James and Kevin Giblin; great-grandmother of Elena and Adilyn Petros and Jackson Butler; and loving aunt to Jacqueline Fernandez. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Arthur T. Thompson and Mary Agnes (Clifford) Thompson; brother, Clifford Thompson (Helen); and half sister, Florence Pullman Leo (Ruby). Mary Louise was an active volunteer in her community and at St. Zachary Catholic Church in Des Plaines. She was awarded many citations for her volunteerism including the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow awarded to her by the Sunrise Rotary of Arlington Heights. She received the "Volunteer of the Year" awarded to her by Pioneer Press in 1998 and many others. She was a volunteer ESL teacher for District 212 and a longtime "Read to Learn" volunteer. At St. Zachary Parish, she served the Altar and Rosary Society for many years and also was elected to secretary and treasurer several times. She volunteered her time with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and other organizations within the parish. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 19, beginning at 4 until 8 p.m. at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines, IL. A funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Nov. 20, beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Zachary Catholic Church, 567 W. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Building Fund of St. Zachary Church, would be greatly appreciated.
