MARY M. LARSON Obituary
Mary M. Larson formerly of Arlington Heights Mary M. Larson, 93, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Heritage Health in Springfield. She was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Green River, WY, the daughter of Charles Claude and Elenora Lohrberg Downs. On April 29, 1939 she married Arne Larson in Omaha, NE. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her four siblings. Mary is survived by her five children, Mary Lynne Cleverdon of Springfield, Arne L. Larson of Toledo, OH, Kristen M. (Charles) Carlson of Dallas, TX, Timothy A. Larson of Bedford, TX and Elise Jean (Scott) Sprague of Penfield, IL; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church; she taught Sunday school, was a deacon at Westminster in Springfield and leader in Presbyterian Women both in Arlington Heights, IL and Springfield. She also represented her church as a member of Springfield Church Women United. Mary was honored as a 50-year member of P.E.O. in 2011 and was a member of local Chapter DC. She was a charter member of the Academy of Lifelong Learning/LLCC in Springfield and volunteered at Washington Street Mission and at the Discovery Room at the Illinois State Museum. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery prior to the service. A celebration of life service will be held at10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Springfield, IL, with Rev. Julie Wells-Blythe officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or Illinois Presbyterian Home.
