1927 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Paul J. Jorden a longtime resident of Wheaton Paul J. Jorden, 85, entered his Lord's presence on April 28, 2013, surrounded by family. For over 62 years, Janet Jorden was his loving and supportive bride. He is survived by all nine children: Sandy (Steve) Morad, Debra (Virgil) Beene, Paul (Martha) Jorden, Jr., Beth (Peter) Lindner, Judy (Bruce) Joiner, Sue (Ben) Zivney, Jim (Kim) Jorden, Kris Jorden and Jenny (Dave) Meyer. His legacy of loving care extends to 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Dr. Jorden was born May 26, 1927, in Millvale, PA. He served in the Navy in WW II as a Seaman 2nd class 20 mm gunner. Despite growing up as a depression kid, he steadfastly pursued his educational dream by graduating from Michigan State and then from Northwestern Medical School in 1955. As the first Orthopedic Surgeon in DuPage County, Dr. Jorden served the community from 1963-1987 through private practice. He honored the Lord through medical service both locally and internationally through Christian Medical Society and numerous mission organizations. From 1973 to 1974 he moved his family of nine children to Kenya, East Africa to do medical missions work. He was elected as National President of the Christian Medical Society (1966). He served on the medical staff of Central DuPage Hospital. He served as President of the medical staff (1976) and as President of the Board of Governors (1980). Most important to Paul was his devotion to Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. Paul (Dr. J) thoroughly enjoyed teaching God's Word to the Homebuilders Class at the Wheaton Bible Church for over 40 years. He also served two terms on the board of elders at the WBC. He "walked his talk" with his family, cared deeply for his patients, was a man of prayer who loved studying and teaching God's Word, and most importantly had an unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ. God has always been faithful. We smile as we hear him say, "Praise the Lord ANYHOW ... KEEP LOOKING UP!!!" A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave, West Chicago, IL 60185, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held later that day at 2:30 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Memorial gifts may be directed to Wheaton Bible Church at the address above (Attention: GoTeams); or to Moody Bible Institute, 820 N.
