Robert Allen Philip Machlet Robert "Bob" Machlet, adored husband for 26 years of Gladys Machlet, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012. He was born in Chicago on Jan. 18, 1940, to the late Frederick W. and Dorothy M. (nee Porter) Machlet. The loving father of Valerie Machlet, below is Valerie's dedication to her Dad. "My Dad was the greatest man I ever knew! Everyone that met him just loved him to pieces. He was so easy going, fun, loving, very kind, genuinely himself, had a heart of gold and he was more than just knowledgeable about all kinds of stuff, not to mention he was super funny. He taught me to just be yourself, be kind, honest and caring. I'm at such a loss right now. I feel like a piece of me died when he passed away. I never knew it would hurt my heart so much. I know he's at peace now." He was the stepfather of Teresa (Steve) Stultz, Tammy Nissen-Zummo and Stacie Moore-Grimm; cherished grandfather of Mikayla Machlet, Sarah, Hannah and Johnathan Stultz, Anthony and Nicholas Zummo, Robbie, Joel, Cody, Alia Machlet and Jacob Grimm. Bob graduated from St. Bede College Academy. He was a veteran having served in the Air Force. He retired from CocaCola, Alsip as a transport driver, after complications of open heart surgery in 1998. Bob will be remembered for being loving and caring, intelligent, creative, his kindness to others, his easy going ways and his funny sense of humor. He is dearly missed by all who loved him. Bob's request was there be no funeral and cremation be private.
