Robert J. "Coach" Pearson formerly of Wheaton Robert J. "Coach" Pearson, 65, of Fairdale, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Rockford. He was born May 3, 1946, in Chicago, the son of Robert and Ruth (Olsen) Pearson. Bob grew up in Wheaton and was a 1964 graduate of Wheaton Central High School and received his bachelor's degree from Judson College in Elgin. He had worked at Siegels in St. Charles for nearly 30 years, specializing in kitchen and bath design. He was an avid golfer and a diehard Cubs and Bears fan. He loved doing handyman work and spending time in his garden. Most of all, he loved being with his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Amy (Dean) Cashmore, Robert (Gina) Pearson, Maria (William) Kresel, Chris Pearson, Donald (Danielle) Pearson and Paul (Nicole) Pearson; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Crockett; and a brother, Ronald (Jean) Pearson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Phillip Pearson. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at the Zion United Methodist Church, 157 W. Jefferson St., Hampshire, with Pastor Diana Otterbacher officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Private burial will be in the Wheaton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be directed to the American Diabetes Foundation. The Fredrick Funeral Home in Hampshire is assisting the family, 847-683-2711.
