Thea Nelsen of Hoffman Estates for 53 years Thea Nelsen, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on_Sunday, April 15, 2012. She was born on Oct.19, 1926, in Regenstauf, Germany. Thea worked at Schaumburg State Bank (America United Bank) from 1970 to 2002. She made many friends of co-workers and customers alike. In retirement, she traveled, knitted socks, and crocheted enough net scrubbies to keep many dishes clean for years to come. She is survived by her daughter, Ingrid (Brian) Kross; and grandchildren, Jessica (Charlie) Sallwasser, Katherine and Laura Kross of Virginia, and Rachel and Max Nelsen of Washington State. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; and her son, Mike. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home, proceeding to interment in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. For information, 847-882-5580.
