1925 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
GILBERTS - Gustav "Gus" Swoboda, age 88, a former many year resident of Tamarac & New Port Richey, FL and the East Dundee, Carpentersville and Elgin areas, passed away on Thursday evening at his home surrounded by family. Gus was born in Chicago on August 24, 1925, the son of the late Gustav & Josephine (nee Moser) Swoboda. On November 25, 1961, he married Dorothy R. Hensel. Gus was a W.W. II U.S. Army Veteran having served in the 1st Medical Co. First Cavalry. Most of Gus's professional career was in construction. He worked primarily as a draftsman for glass and aluminum window extrusions. Gus was a member of the Sun City Sunshine Boys of Huntley and attended the St. John Lutheran Church in Elgin. He was an avid supporter of the Gideons. Survivors include his wife of 52 years Dorothy. Their children: Christine (William) Ortmann, Lorrie (Jon) Robson and Scott (Laura) Swoboda. Other survivors include his grandchildren: Allison (Jason) Stanley, Konrad and Clara Robson, Elizabeth, Britta, Sarah and Sam Swoboda. His great granddaughter: Adalyn Stanley, his sister: Maria Swoboda as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Gus was preceded in death by his sister Josephine. At Gus' request, he has been cremated. A memorial gathering celebrating his life will be held later this spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a in Gus' memory.
