LAKE VILLA - Eugenia J. "Jean" Schwanbeck; 86 years old, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Centegra Woodstock Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, IL. She was born May 18, 1927, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Marion and Josephine (Sulko) Kulak, moving to Lake Villa in 1958. Jean was a member of St. Peter Church, Antioch, and enjoyed: reading, crossword puzzles, making crafts for her family, painting, drawing, and singing. Jean began her career as "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII, and retired in 1986 as a RN from St. Therese Hospital, Waukegan, IL. On May 17, 1947 she married Clayton Schwanbeck in Chicago. Survivors include: her husband of 67 years Clayton "Swanny" Schwanbeck; three children: Jackie (Arnold) Shanks of Garden Prairie, IL, Mitchell (Donna) Schwanbeck of Silver Lake, WI, and Christine (James) Aronson of Lake Villa, IL; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister Ardine (William) Thompson of Oregon, a brother-in-law Melvin Petty, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by: a sister Karyl Petty and a brother Ken Kulack. Funeral Services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Tuesday March 25, 2014 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch, IL 60002. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be held from 8:30AM until 9:30AM Tuesday at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83), Antioch, IL 60002. Those desiring may make donations to the in Jean's memory.
