1933 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Donald L. Coulson, 80, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 in Wheaton, IL. He was born July 12, 1933 in Chicago, was a former 30 year resident of Libertyville and a 15 year resident of Grayslake. He was a US Army veteran serving with the special forces in the Korean War and was awarded the silver star and purple heart. He was a past commander of the Libertyville American Legion Post #329 and a member of the 40 & 8. Don was an Eagle Scout and stayed active in scouting as Scoutmaster of Troop #72 in Libertyville and was given the Silver Beaver and Order of the Arrow awards. He was a retired employee of IL Bell Telephone and also a former Libertyville Village Trustee. Surviving are his wife Arlene Coulson; 3 children, Carl ((Debra) Coulson and Kurt (Lauren) Coulson, both of Riverwoods and Heidi (Stan) Haen of Lisle; 5 grandchildren and his brother Bob (Pat) Coulson of Carpentersville. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home Ltd., 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.), Libertyville. Friends and family will meet at the funeral home and proceed to Lakeside Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday for a graveside service with military honors.
