HELEN COOPER HOFFER Obituary
Helen Cooper Hoffer, 95, passed away on April 25, 2014. She was born November 25, 1918 in Elgin and was the daughter of Albert and Lucille (DePew) Cooper. Helen married Robert A. Hoffer on June 30, 1942. Bob predeceased her in 2007. They are survived by children Robert Hoffer, Jr., William (Taffy) Hoffer and Mary (Dave) Eagin; grandchildren Gretchen (Adam) Farb, Charlotte (JC) Canning, Alex (Sarah) Hoffer, Sara Eagin, Betsy Eagin, and Chad Eagin as well as six great-grandchildren. Helen graduated from Purdue in 1941 with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics. Following graduation Helen taught nutrition classes through the Red Cross during WWII, and supported Bob by moving thirteen times in thirteen years until settling back in Elgin, IL. Helen was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, serving for many years as the coordinator of the Sunday School program and on the Altar Guild. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow at Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Sunday form 4 - 8 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Edwards YMCA Camp and Retreat Center, N8901 Army Lake Road, East Troy, WI 53120.
