ELGIN - Russell DuCharme Damisch, 86, of Elgin passed away on Friday April 25, 2014 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born on March 13, 1928 in Elgin, and had grown up on his family's dairy farm, the son of George A. and Beulah V. (DuCharme) Damisch. Russell graduated from Elgin High School in 1945, and entered into the US Navy, and served at the end WWII. Upon returning from the war, he attended the University of Illinois. Russell took part in the Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2009. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elgin, the American Legion Post # 57, the Elgin Elks' Club. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn (Behrens), whom he married on June 1, 1952. His son: Scott (Paula) Damisch of Elgin: a daughter in Law: Janet Damisch of Arlington Heights, IL. 4 grandchildren: Erin, Edward, Marc and Joe; 2 brothers: George (Josepha) Damisch of Cape Coral, FL; Donald (Cynthia) Damisch of Hampshire, along with many nieces, nephews and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Craig, in 2010. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 30, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave., Elgin IL 60120. Burial will follow at Washington Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elgin, IL. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-8:00 P.M. at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
