GERTRUDE WATSON Obituary
BATAVIA/ST. CHARLES - Gertrude Watson, 90, of Batavia and formerly of St. Charles, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. She was born November 22, 1923 in St. Charles, IL the daughter of Axel and Sigrid (nee Carlson) Johnson. She was united in marriage to William David Watson Jr. March 14, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida. Gertrude was an active resident, mother, and friend in St. Charles. She served as a Cub Scout leader for many years. Gertrude had a deep devotion to her faith and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she served as a religious education leader. She was a member of Silver Foxes in St. Charles. In her free time she managed to entertainer many as an accomplished pianist. Gertrude was employed for more than twenty years at the Kane County Assessment office. She is survived by; two sons William (Shirley) Watson of Palm Springs, CA, Richard "Dick" Watson of Hanna, IN; two grandchildren Jason (Michelle) Schmit of Cortland and Christie Schmit, of Palm Springs; and a great-granddaughter Courtney Schmit; dear friends and family Tom and Judy Fahey; and many extended relatives in Sweden. Visitation will be held 3-7 P.M. Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St. (three blocks west of the Fox River, one block south of Route 64), St. Charles, IL 60174. Funeral services will begin with prayers from Moss-Norris Funeral Home Monday, June 30, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. before processing to Holy Cross Catholic Church 2300 West Main Street Batavia, IL to celebrate Mass at 10:30 A.M.
