ERIC S. BROWN Obituary
WEST DUNDEE - Eric S. Brown, age 58, a 26 year veteran radio sportscaster at CBS Radio ALL-NEWS WBBM AM 780/105.9 FM, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Eric was born in Chicago on August 17, 1955, the son of the late Douglas & Patricia (nee Allen) Brown. He was raised in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood. Following graduation from high school he attended and later graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI. Following graduation, he began his career at WBAY-TV, the ABC affiliate in Green Bay, WI then for nine years at WISC-TV the CBS affiliate in Madison, WI. In 1988 he joined WBBM News radio and worked there until this past fall. Eric will be remembered as a consummate professional, a polished broadcaster and a great teammate. He was always willing to go above and beyond to get a story. Eric was dependable, very knowledgeable and a friend to everyone he met. Survivors include his wife, life partner, and best friend for 37 years, Barbara A. Horkman. His sister; Dana Green, his brother; Douglas Brown, his niece; Kandyce (Brandon) Williams and his nephew; Matthew Brown and a very large extended family of in-laws, friends and colleagues. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel at Willow Creek Community Church 67 E. Algonquin Road, South Barrington. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service at Willow Creek. The omission of flowers is requested and memorials are encouraged to the Eric S.
