Martin E. "Marty" Morin SCHAUMBURG - Martin E. "Marty" Morin, 71, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at home in the loving embrace of family after a long battle with Lewy Body disease and multiple myeloma. Born April 2, 1943 to Everett and Marea (Martin) Morin in Bay City, Michigan, Marty earned his medical degree from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago in 1968. He served as a major in the US Army at Redstone Arsenal Base in Huntsville, AL from 1972-74. He worked as a radiologist at the VA Lakeside Hospital in Chicago in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. He also taught at as an associate professor of Radiology at Northwest University's medical school. During the academic period of his career, he published numerous journal articles, most of which focused on ultrasound. In 1980, he left academic medicine to join a private practice in Springfield, OH. He retired to Carefree, AZ in 2000 but was unable to completely leave radiology. He returned to working in a Locum Tenens capacity until 2009. Marty loved spending time with his family and friends. His quick wit and amazing sense of humor drew people to him. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marlie Mae (Brookman); his daughter Melissa (Bob) Hutchison; son Mike (Kristen) Morin; his grandchildren Matthew, Meaghan and Maureen Hutchison and Courtney, Patrick, Emily, Josh, Geta and Tamene Morin; and his sister Roberta (Bob) Cekay. Memorial visitation will be at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL from 3PM to 8PM on Thursday. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 1451 W. Bode Road, Schaumburg, at 10AM on Friday. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to Alexian Brothers Hospice, 1515 E Lake Street, Suite 206, Hanover Park, IL 60133 or , , 1140 W.
