Obituary Condolences

ELGIN - Joseph Caliendo, 83 of Elgin passed away on July 5, 2014. He was born August 3, 1930 in Oak Park, IL the son of Ralph and Madeline Caliendo. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, a cement finisher with local 803, a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church and patron of Mercy Home for Boys and Girls and St. Jude Research. Joe enjoyed good food, a game of blackjack his loyal dog Louie and so many friends and good neighbors who never forgot him during his time of disability. He had a heart of gold and will be missed profoundly. He is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver Nancy (Maddalone), loving father of Madeline Caliendo Margaret (Dave) Christensen and Cathy (Greg) Sobieski, grandpa to 5 great grandpa to 1; also survived by stepbrother, Tony (Karen) Sciuvo; and stepsister, Maria Sciuvo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Angeline. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Laird Funeral Home 310 S. State St. Elgin. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
