1923 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
PALATINE - Walter K. Blake, 91, of Lincolnshire, formerly of Palatine, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New London, CT on February 1, 1923; the son of Daniel and Susan (Kingston) Blake. He was a proud U.S. veteran serving his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII and later the Navy. He married Simone Lariviere and together they shared 51 years of marriage until she preceded him in death in 2002. Walter was a businessman dedicated to the insurance industry as an independent agent. He served as past president of PIA of IL and former director of CIC. After retirement he volunteered his time assisting senior citizens with Medicare claims through S.H.I.P. Walter lived life to the fullest, enjoying boating, writing, singing and volunteering. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church. His greatest passion in life was his family and friends. Survived by his loving children, Daniel (Mary), Andrew, Virginia (William) Pierson and Tracey (Laurence) Gross, 5 grandchildren and special companion, Marilyn Wolf. Visitation from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
