CARPENTERSVILLE - Curtis Evans, age 76 , passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 at his home. Curt was born Sept. 18, 1937 in Lundale, West Virginia, and was one of 10 children born to the late Oscar and Edna (Maynard) Evans. After graduating high school in 1957, Curt moved from Lenore, West Virginia to take a job in Chicago, IL at Zenith Television and Radio where he worked for 40+ years. On September 20, 1958, he married his wife, Loretta (Rhodes) Evans and they raised their two sons, Brian and Mike. Curt was an avid sportsman, specializing in freshwater fishing. He loved sports and coached his boys and others in numerous sports (basketball, baseball, and hockey) for years. He was also a true "Sports-fan" as he supported the teams his sons and grandchildren played on. He will be fondly remembered by many who considered him "Grandpa Evans" or "Grandpa Boomer". Curt was a new believer and enjoyed learning from his Pastor Robert Jacoby and his church family at Bible Baptist Church in Carpentersville. He will be deeply missed by his family; his two sons, Brian Evans (Linda) of Mundelein, Michael Evans (Julie) of Glenview; his grandchildren, Brooke (Evans) and David Jackson, Kaitlyn and Aidan Evans; siblings, Fanny, Forrest, Bill, Ronnie, and Carol; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Loretta Evans on July 30, 2005; brothers, Don, Albert, Ken; sister, Dorothy. A celebration of life reception will be held on Saturday, August 23rd from 12:00-3:00 PM at The Chapel (1966 W. Hawley Street, Mundelein, Illinois).
