Obituary Condolences

Judith Lee Herchenbach lifelong resident of Libertyville A funeral Mass for Judith Lee Herchenbach will be celebrated at 12 noon Friday, at St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville. Burial will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Ltd., 101 Park Place (Route 176, one block east of Milwaukee Ave.), Libertyville. Judy passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of Sept. 14, 2009. She had been suffering the effects of a stroke since 1998. Born in Chicago, in 1937, Judy grew up on Lake Street, attended LHS and the Mount Mary College before becoming a full time homemaker for 30 years. She was a consistent volunteer at St. Mary's School in Fremont Center, taught 4-H classes and produced plays, and also worked in the headquarters of McLean-Fogg. Judy was an avid reader, sharp-witted and an affectionate perfectionist. Judy pursued her dream of studying English Literature that culminated with her master's degree. She taught at Barat College in Lake Forest. Judy was the beloved wife of the late Bill Herchenbach; loving mother of five boys: Jim (Nancy), Ned (Andrea), Tom (Teri), Dan (Julie) and Brad (Amy); fun-loving "GMa Judy" to Nellie, Rosie Leah, Sarah, Staci, Laura, Matthew, Jon, Ben, Mollie, Jennie, Spencer and Sydney. She is also survived by her sister, Gayle (Doug) Ellis of California and her brothers, Tom (Bonnie) and John of Libertyville. In addition to Bill, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Peter and her parents, Tony and Leola Cavalier.
