Obituary Condolences

Catherine Opal Ramstadt of Barrington Catherine Opal Ramstadt was released from this world on June 17, 2010, after a long battle with Alzheimer's and finally cancer, at the age of 74. Catherine was born in 1935, to the late John and Mae Roberts in Rolla, Mo. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dolly and Jewel; and her brother, John. She is survived by her husband, Ken, formerly of Waukegan; son, Jeff Powers and family of Chicago; stepson, Micah Harper and family of Eau Claire, Wis.; sisters, Nellie Boudinet of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Doris Brandt of Wichita, Kan. and Connie Walker of Henderson, Nev. and brother, Jim Roberts of St. Louis, Mo.; and a great deal of nieces and nephews. Cathy had owned and operated the Syd Simons Day Spa in the Barrington Commons for 35 years, teaching and helping three generations of Barrington women with skin care and make-up, which was her passion. She enjoyed traveling to be with family, touring Mexico and the Caribbean, and of course the annual skin care conventions in Las Vegas. A memorial service will be held at the church of her wedding, The Federated Church of Wauconda, 200 S. Barrington Road, Wauconda, IL 60084, on Saturday, July 17, at 11 a.m. For information, 847-254-6793.
