Obituary Condolences

James Preston Boyd III A memorial service for James Preston Boyd III, 56, will be held at 12 noon Friday, Sept. 10, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street (three blocks west of the river and one block south of Route 64), St. Charles, where visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Interment will be private. Born Nov. 22, 1953, the son of James Preston and Charlsie Marie (nee Schoeppey) Boyd Jr., he passed away unexpectedly Sept. 7, 2010, at his residence in St. Charles. He was united in marriage to Lynda Woodworth, Aug. 5, 1978, in Ashtown, Ark. Preston proudly served and retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief in 1992 after 20 years of service. After his time in the military, Preston embarked on a secondary career as a stay at home father while attending college to earn his nursing degree. He worked at the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac, Mich., Sherman Hospital in Elgin, and Jesse Brown VA Hospital in Chicago. Preston genuinely loved people and was a compassionate and caring health care provider. He had a great appreciation for life and lived it to the fullest. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda; sons, James Preston Boyd IV of Frankmuth, Mich., and Tyler Kennedy Boyd of St. Charles; mother, Charlsie Boyd of Texarkana, Texas; siblings, Victoria (Larry) Van Dyke of Fanning Springs, Fla., Stephanie (Ford) Crane of Nash Texas, Lisa (Dr. Jack) McCubbin, Terry (Sudie) Boyd, both of the Texarkana, Texas area; and many nieces and nephews.
