Obituary Condolences

George Andrew Duthorn George Andrew Duthorn, 57, of Marengo, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010. He was born Aug. 13, 1957, in Elgin, to John and Katherine (Harberts) Duthorn of Hampshire, Ill. He married Deborah Michelle Riley on Aug. 31, 1985, in Sycamore, Ill. He was a 1972 graduate of Hampshire High School, Hampshire, where he played on many sports teams. He won the Golden Helmet Football All Star in 1971, National Junior College Athletic Association Judo Championship in 1973, and Chicago Tribune Golden Gloves Novice Heavyweight Boxer Award in 1977. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, hiking, biking and gardening. He was a 23-year member of the International Laborer Union Local 1035, from which he retired in 2007. He most recently could be found working diligently at Farm and Fleet in Woodstock until August of 2009. He was a member of the Union Lions Club, and a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Union. George was a 13-year cancer survivor. He participated in many Relay for Life cancer events and blood drives. He loved life, his family, friends, hunting, fishing, golfing and just being with friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; devoted children, Kyle Joseph of Woodstock, Ashley Rene of Aurora and John Abraham of Marengo; sisters, Lynda (Ronald) Olsen of Unity, Wis., and Barbara (Michael) Caraker of Sikeston, Mo.; nephews, Ronald Jr. and Andrew Olsen and their families of Wisconsin, Michael Caraker Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; nieces, Suzanne Caraker of Carol Stream, and Jennifer Caraker of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and many friends and family members. Visitation will take place at St. John's United Church of Christ, Union, on Thursday, Dec. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. and continues Friday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Flowers and cards may be given to the family with a memorial to be determined. The James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, Huntley, 847-669-5111, is assisting the family.
