Obituary Condolences

Gerald "Jerry" Gleason Gerald "Jerry" Gleason, 82, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, as a result of pulmonary disease. He is survived by his wife, Kay (nee Cooling), the love of his life; as well as seven children, Sue (Dean) Mennecke, Linda (Mick) McNeil, Mike (Von), Pat (Jeanette), Diane, Peggy and Pete (Marcy). He was the grandfather of 16; great-grandfather of 14; fond brother of Marge (the late Tom) Tonelli, Ed (Kathy), and the late Bill (Corky) and Anne (the late Patrick) Donohue; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. Jerry was a proud auto dealer for many years and was instrumental in the lives of many of the young people who he hired and trained over the decades. He led by example, with a work ethic that filtered down, and he knew, by name, every one of his 400 or so employees. Alcoholics Anonymous, and the Grace of God was his Savior, for which he has been eternally grateful. Visitation will be at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 N. Busse Highway, Park Ridge, on Tuesday and Wednesday, from 3 to 9 p.m. His funeral will be on Thursday, family and friends are asked to meet at St. Gregory the Great Church, 5600 N. Paulina, for an 11 a.m. Mass. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, next to his beloved brother, Bill. In lieu of flowers, donations would be happily received by Misericordia-Heart of Mercy, The Mercy Home for Boys and Girls or your local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous.
