Obituary Condolences

Jeffrey L. Gordon of Bartlett Jeffrey L. Gordon, 52, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, after a 4-year battle with cancer. He was born March 22, 1959, in Kalamazoo, Mich. Jeff grew up in Northwest Indiana, graduating from Griffith High School in 1977. He married his high school sweetheart, Cathy Hardin Gordon, in 1979. He graduated from Indiana University in 1981 with a B.S. in chemistry. He worked at Standard Oil in Whiting, Ind. and continued his education getting a M.S. in computer science from Illinois Institute of Technology. In 1985, he started what would be a 26-year career with Northrop-Grumman Defensive Systems Division in Rolling Meadows. He would get one more degree: an M.B.A. from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. He played and coached Rugby for the Chicago Blaze RFC from 1987 to 1997. An avid scuba diver, he enjoyed technical and cold water wreck diving in the Great Lakes. He and his family lived in the town of Bartlett since 1987. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cathy, and a beautiful daughter, Casey, both of Bartlett; his parents, Ronald M. Gordon of Huntley and Geraldine Gordon of Griffith, Ind.; one sister, Julie Dowling (Brendan) of Hampshire; one brother, Steven of Chicago; and five nieces and nephews. "We will all miss this man of honor and integrity, and will be remembered for his honesty and deep love of family." Memorial visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road), Bartlett. The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place in Bartlett Cemetery. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory.
