Richard D. "Rick" Hathaway of Arlington Heights Richard D. "Rick" Hathaway was born on Sept. 8, 1951, in Chicago, Ill., to George and Dolores (nee Kallenbach) Hathaway. He was called home to heaven Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, after a courageous battle with lung/liver cancer. Rick was a devoted son to his parents, a loving husband to Judy, a protective big brother to his sisters, and a doting grandfather to Sierra and Savannah. He cherished all the great times he spent with family and friends, especially the past 30 years boating and fishing on Lake of the Ozarks and he enjoyed numerous trips to Las Vegas. He liked fast cars, rock and roll music, and the latest in electronic technology. Rick was a highly respected and dedicated project management leader for Honeywell, Inc., employed for 38 years, his first and only employer since graduating from Bradley University in 1973. Rick is survived by his wife of 31 years, Judy Hathaway (nee Klepac), whom he married Oct. 4, 1980; his parents; his sisters, Nancy (Duke) Fisher-Kubkowski, Mary (Joe) Heinrich, Judy (Rowland) Bond and Karen (Don) Norman; his stepchildren, Rob Loving and Nancy (Phil) Moss; his grandchildren, Sierra Moss and Savannah Moss; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins, and countless good and faithful friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dennis Fisher; his grandparents; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be from 3 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. Prayers will be said at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the funeral home, proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, for Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the , 1114 N.
