Obituary Condolences

James P. Gats James P. Gats, 92, a resident of Plainfield's Carillon Community, formerly of Skokie, Ill., and Mesa, Ariz., passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Westlake Hospital in Melrose Park, Ill. He was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Chicago. James was the beloved husband of the late Jeanette A. Gats (nee Rekiel); loving father of James P. (Carol) Gats of Wheaton, Ill., Robert J. (Diana) Gats of Irving, Texas, and Patricia (Mike) Avallone of Naperville; devoted grandfather of James P. (Amy) Gats, Christopher M. (Nasim) Gats, Allison R. (Nicholas) Carmichael and Kenneth C. Gats, Brian R. Gats, Michael R. and Jason P. Avallone; and cherished great-grandfather of Madison, Parker, Camden, Carter, Darien and Mae. A graduate of Foreman High School, Chicago, Class of 1937, James was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, who served during World War II. For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to the life of James P. Gats, donations to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 would be greatly appreciated. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 10, 1 to 3 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
