Leona Larsen of Elk Grove Village Leona Larsen (nee Farace), 93, was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Chicago, to Vincent and Josephine (nee Giacone) Farace. She died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, surrounded by her family. Leona was the fifth of six children, survived by her youngest sister, Lillian (Petersen), predeceased by Sam (Farace), Cal (Sciortino), Josephine (Rovetto) and Mary (Christie). On Sept. 8, 1939, she married the love of her life, the late Victor Larsen. Leona was the loving mother of James (Evelyn), Sandra Rutstein, Linda (Henry) Lobe and Bill (Jan). She was cherished by her seven grandchildren, Victor, David, Tracy, Deena, Michelle, Chad and Nicole; loved by her 10 great-grandchildren, Sasha, Sloane, Cora, Adam, Samantha, Jordyn, Hannah, Mia, Aiden and Hannah Leona and great-great-granddaughter, Dakota; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village IL, 847-640-0566. The visitation will continue with a prayer service at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home, before going to church at St. Julian Eymard Catholic Church, 601 Biesterfield Road, Elk Grove Village IL, 847-956-0130, for a 10 a.m. Mass. Following the church service, Leona will be buried next to her late husband at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, IL 60162, 708-449-8300.
