AGNES M. DAVIS Obituary
Agnes M. Davis formerly of Wheaton Agnes M. Davis, 95, a resident of The Holmstad in Batavia, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012. She was born Feb. 15, 1917, in East Chicago, IN, to Lars and Judith Larson. She graduated from Washington High School in East Chicago, where she attended the Swedish Covenant Church. After graduating from Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing she went to Moody Bible Institute, where she met her husband, Carl Davis. They were married on May 31,1942. From 1942 until 1946, Carl was pastor of First Baptist Church of Calumet, MI. On March 1, 1947, they traveled to Bombay, India as missionaries with The Scandinavian Alliance Mission, now TEAM. Following the partition of India, they served in Pakistan from 1947 until 1967. They also served for seven years in Australia with TEAM after which they joined the TEAM staff in Wheaton. After Carl's death, Agnes served for seven years as a representative for TEAM served faithfully for many years at Faith Baptist Church in Winfield. Agnes was a woman of prayer who unselfishly released her children and grandchildren to serve the Lord around the world. Everyone who knew Agnes will remember her smile and her laughter. She is survived by two sons, David (Mary) Davis of Carol Stream and Charles (Kris) Davis of Winfield; son-in-law, Paul Guiley; seven grandchildren, Jonathan (Jennifer), Bethany (David) Noll, Brennan, Evan (Karyn), Keith (Leslie) Guiley, Brian (Melissa) Guiley and Karin Guiley; and eight great-grandchildren, Megumi, Daniel, Aubrey, Emersyn, Nathaniel, Trystan, Caleb and Justin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter, Judith; and son, Carl Edward. A visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Wheaton, where a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be held at Fairplains Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. eastern time.
