Obituary Condolences

Donald J. Koenig of Mundelein A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald J. Koenig, 78, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church 22333 W. Erhart Road, Mundelein. Interment will be at 12 noon Friday, at St. Ann Cemetery, Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Visitation is Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (two blocks west of Route 45 on Route 176), Mundelein. He was born July 11, 1934, in Superior, WI, to Helen (nee Vogel) and George Koenig, and passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at home. Don was an avid hunter. He was a former member of the Safari Club International, Wild Turkey Federation and the Nippersink Hunt Club. He enjoyed traveling the world to all seven continents. Don was also a 60-year member of the Carpenters Union Local #58. He is survived by his wife, Constance "Connie" Koenig (nee Kraetsch); his children, Edward (Jeannie) Koenig, Beverly Koenig and Denise (Patrick) Keenan; stepchildren, James (Emily), William (Lenore) and Thomas (Diane) Macdonald; his brother, William (Pat); his sister, Kathleen Holbeck; grandchildren, Tyler and Victoria Koenig, and David and Bryan Keenan; stepgrandchildren, James, Sarah, Todd, Carissa and Kevin Macdonald, and Jason and Amy Portzen; and great-stepgranddaughter, Elle Portzen. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie (nee Saddler); and his siblings, Helen, George, Edward and Mary.
