RITA LOYE LEE Obituary
Rita Loye Lee formerly of Des Plaines Rita Loye Lee passed away Oct. 6, 2012, in Fullerton, Calif. Rita was born on April 19, 1937, at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. She grew up in Des Plaines, where she lived on Washington Street until she moved to California. Her father, Mike Loye, was from Ireland and her mother, Rose Connolly Loye, was born in Chicago. Rita visited her Ireland relatives twice and enjoyed when they visited her. When she graduated Maine Township High School, Rita's first job was as a telephone operator for AT&T. She worked first in Des Plaines, then in Arlington Heights. She later transferred to Los Angeles, Calif., where she met the cousin of a co-worker, Lawrence Lee of the United States Army, who she later married. Rita and Larry were married for 50 years and she worked for the phone company for 39 years. Rita was always socially conscious; she volunteered for the Jerry Lewis Telethon year after year, for three decades, as well as did volunteer work for the charity, the Telephone Pioneers of America. Rita may have had a bad heart, but it was a big heart! As Rita would tell you, one of her favorite things in life were her nieces and nephews, and eventually the great nieces and nephews! Rita loved spending time with them and always took them to Disneyland when they would visit her and Larry in California. She loved dancing, camping, gambling as well as going to off-road and NASCAR races. Rita will be remembered for her giggle and her smile; there are no pictures anywhere where she isn't smiling. Memorial services will be held in California. Rita is survived by her husband of 50 years, Larry Lee of Fullerton, CA; and her sister, Barbara Loye Terry of Des Plaines; along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her brother, John "Buddy" Loye; and her sister, Marie Loye Caldon. Also waiting to greet her in heaven is her beloved niece, Rosie Mesisca, Rosie's loving husband, Don, and their beautiful son, Brett. Condolences can be sent to her sister, Barbara Loye Terry, c/o Lee Manor, Room 25B, 1301 Lee Street Des Plaines, IL 60018, 847-635-4000.
