Obituary Condolences

Carol A. Preston Piper of Naperville Carol A. Preston Piper, 88, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at her home with family members around her. She was born in Chicago on Jan. 28, 1924. Carol grew up in Downers Grove and graduated from Downers Grove High School. She later attended North Central College in Naperville and graduated in 1944, with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in chemistry. Carol worked at chemistry labs at Universal Oil Products, Swift and Company and the research lab of Quaker Oats. She also taught the H & R Block income tax course and managed an H & R Block office in New Jersey. She was a member of the Glen Rock, NJ city council for two terms and served as a member of the Naperville City council from 1987 to 1995. She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville and sang in the choir for many years as well as in the Naperville Woman's Club Chorus. She was an early Welcome Wagon hostess in Naperville. Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Robert; and her children, Steve Piper of Naperville, Barbara Delibovi of Hewitt, NJ, Bruce Piper of Hamburg, NJ and Diane Shulkowski of Severna Park, MD. Carol has 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville. Interment will be private. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home & Crematory, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.
