Stanley Ray Hart of Elgin Stanley Ray Hart, 86, formerly of Unionville, MO, passed away Nov. 27, 2012 at 4:05 a.m. He was born in Crescent, OK, the son of Erastus Webster and Viola Christine Ray Hart. He later moved with his family to the Unionville area where he graduated from high school. He accepted Christ when he was nine years old. He was a member of Hartford Baptist Church in MO and Larkin Avenue Baptist Church in Elgin, where he taught adult men's Bible classes for many years and served in various committees. Stanley enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1943. He served in the 65th division of the Third Army under General Patton, taking part in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns meeting the Russian Army at Enns, Austria on Aug. 1, 1945. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946. Stanley married Dorothy May Ledford on Aug. 1, 1944. He worked for the Missouri Highway Department and farmed where they lived for about 15 years. He graduated from Northeast Missouri College, now Truman University, with Bachelor of Science Degree and Masters Degree. He taught history at Tefft Middle School for 23 years before retiring in 1988. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, especially to historic places, sports, cards and games with family and friends, and attending sports and other activities of the grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter-in-law, Peggy; son, John (Sandy); grandchildren, James Hard and Brette Humphreys (Greg), Jeremiah, Joshua (Robin), Jason (Jennifer), and Jessica Hart; sister, Betty Lemen; sister-in-law, Shirley Ledford; brother-in-law, Larry Ledford; great-grandchildren, David Humphreys, Emma and Jacob Hart; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; sisters, Octa Crooks (Wesley), LaVonne Van Dyne (Carl); brother, Robert (Louise); brother-in-laws, Baxter Lemen, Robert Ledford, Lewis Ledford; niece, Verba Norris; and nephew-in-law, Edward Fisher. Visitation will be held at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. (Route 31), Elgin, on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 4 until the time of funeral services at 7:30 p.m. Graveside service will be at the Unionville, MO cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael J.
