Marlene F. Douglas a resident of Mount Prospect for 50 years Marlene F. Douglas, 77, passed away Dec. 24, 2012, at home from cancer. She was born in Chicago on Aug. 2, 1935. She attended of Hillsdale College and graduated from the University of Illinois. She married Bruce Douglas on Aug. 17, 1957. Marlene was a member of the Northwest Chapter of the Lyric Opera and a volunteer at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, bridge and tennis. She was a longtime member of the Chicago Health Club. She loved to travel and was involved with the Red Hat Society. Marlene was a special education substitute teacher at NSSEO, retiring in 1999. Marlene is survived by her husband, Bruce; children, Michelle (Mark) Bossong, Corey (Stephanie) Douglas, Margie (Mike) Hey and David (Stephanie) Douglas; and grandchildren, Katie, Rebecca, Jessica, Hailey, Jack, Delaney, Joshua, Jeremy and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Gladys Fenske; and sister, Carolyn Douglas. Visitation will be Thursday, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect. Services will be Friday, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ridgewood Memorial Park.
