LaMont Barbara "Moni" Shafer of Wheaton LaMont "Moni" Barbara Shafer (nee Ehrenstrauss), 88, died peacefully Dec. 12, 2012, at home in Wheaton, where she has lived since 1979. She was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Milwaukee. As a keen listener with a compassionate heart, Moni followed her passion becoming a Stephen Minister and a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, where she was also active member in the Martha Circle. Those who will miss dearly her include her children, Brad Shafer of Wheaton and his children, Josephine and James; Susan (Lou) Marinelli of Amston, Conn. and their children, Luigi and Amanda; Vicki Shafer of Wheaton and her children, Michael, Matthew and Katie; David (Maureen) Shafer of Aurora; and former daughter-in-law, Cynthia Shafer of Harbor Springs, Mich. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim, who died in 1999. Private burial was held Monday, Dec. 17, in Oconomowoc, Wis. A memorial service celebrating Moni's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the First Presbyterian Church, Wheaton.
