Donald Marass of Old Carpentersville Donald Marass, 86, passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan. 23, 2013, at his home, surrounded by family. Don was born in Old Carpentersville on Oct. 15, 1926, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (nee Butz) Marass. Don was a lifelong resident of the Carpentersville area and a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in West Dundee. Don also served his church as a former Elder, Trustee and Worship Aid/Usher. On Jan. 28,1951, he married Helen M. Hauschild. Prior to retirement in 1995, Don was a former 35-year employee of Illinois Bell/Lucent Technologies. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Don was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and a good friend. Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Helen M .; and their children, Glenn (Robin) Marass of Juda, Wis. and Linda (Jeff) Frost of Carpentersville. Don is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Michael (Jessica), Timothy, Andrew (fiancee, Rachel Soldner), Joshua and Molly Marass, and Tanya and Morgan Frost; his great-grandchildren, Elijah, Cheyenne and Benjamin; his sister, Margaret Barton; as well as many nieces, nephews and countless good and faithful friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Richard G. and William Marass. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 401 W. Main St., West Dundee, with Frank Hewitt, director of Parish Ministries officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Dundee Townsip East Cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service on Saturday, at the church. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, West Dundee.
