FARRELL MILROY

Obituary Condolences

Farrell Milroy of Batavia Mrs. Farrell Milroy, 88, of Batavia died on February 14, 2013 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. She was born at St. Charles Hospital in Aurora, Illinois on March 26, 1924. Farrell was the second child of John and Elva (LaRue) Kennedy. She was a 1942 graduate of Madonna High School and, later, the St. Charles Hospital Nursing School. She married Bernard J. Milroy on May 22, 1948 and was devoted to him through more than 54 years of marriage, nine children and dozens of grand and great-grandchildren. Mr. Milroy died on January 27, 2003. Farrell Milroy was the very epitome of genuine grace. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker; the kind of person who, when seeing that there are only four pieces of pie for five people, would promptly announce that she wasn't hungry and really didn't like pie that much anyway. Although shy and unassuming, she, nevertheless, exerted more influence over her family and friends than she could have ever imagined or admitted. Such was the power of her unconditional love. Indeed, to those who knew her, Farrell Milroy gave life to St. Paul's definition of love as expressed in his Letter to the Corinthians: "She was patient and she was kind; she did not envy, she did not boast; she was not proud. She did not dishonor others. She was not self-seeking and was not easily angered. She kept no record of wrongs. She did not delight in evil but rejoiced in the Truth. She always protected, always trusted, always hoped and always persevered. She did not fail her family, friends or her God." Farrell was preceded in death by her parents, John R. Kennedy and Elva (LaRue) Kennedy; two brothers, LaRue Kennedy and Richard Kennedy; and her beloved husband of more than 54 years, Bernard J. Milroy. She is survived by her dear friend and sister-in-law, Geraldine Kennedy (Yorkville, Illinois) and her nine children, including: Mary Milroy of Geneva, Illinois; Bernard J. (Patty) Milroy of Burlington, Wisconsin; Peggy Bellafiore (Vincent) of Batavia; Jane Bohr (Robert) of Batavia; Patricia Milroy of Dundee, Illinois; Maureen Schultz (John) of Tinley Park, Illinois; John Milroy (Susan) of Woodinville, Washington; Kathy Heaton (Thomas) of Columbus, Ohio and Timothy (Tamarah) Milroy of Batavia. Also, Mrs. Milroy leaves 30 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 3 nephews - and will be greatly missed by all. Visitation for Farrell J. (nee Kennedy) Milroy will begin at 9:00 AM until 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia) followed by a Funeral Mass at Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church (1820 Church Road Aurora, IL 60505) at 11:00 AM with Reverend Michael Burrows, O.S.B. of Marmion Abbey officiating. Interment will take place at River Hills Memorial Park (1650 South River Street Batavia, Illinois) immediately following the funeral. Contributions in her memory may be directed to Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. LaFox, South Elgin, IL 60177. "I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life." - Abraham Lincoln For information, 630-879-7900.
